Twin Rivers Casino

We had a relaxing day off yesterday so we took to the highway and headed south to try our luck at Twin River casino. It snowed the night before so we were hoping the traffic and weather wouldn't be too bad and we were lucky cause the road were dry all the way down and it took exactly 90 minutes from Manchester, NH to Lincoln, RI.

I walked in the door and was met by a prize promotion sign that they were currently having for the month of February. Win A Norwegian Cruise! Wow, how enticing! So I run up to the Player's Card counter and ask for a players card so I can win a cruise! I ask her for details on how to win the cruise and the lady tells me that for every 100 points that I earn gambling that I would get one entry. She also tells me that I would need to be here for the drawing (Thursday 5pm to 9pm) and that I would have 10 minutes from when my name is called to go to the booth to claim my prize.

So I said, fine, sounds good, and I take off to my favorite slot machine and start playing. We had a great time and I got 112 points on my card for the day of playing on slot machines. They also provide a phone charging unit on the casino floor that will charge your phone for free. I've never seen this before and I thought that was very nice. More places should have this, just don't forget your phone is in there when you leave....lol!

NYC Weekend

This is my first time in NYC. I've driven thru New York many times before, seen their sky

This is my first time in NYC. I've driven thru New York many times before, seen their skylines passing thru but never really stopped to check things out. This weekend was the NY Times travel show and this would be a great opportunity to not only go to the travel expo, but to experience a whole new city for me. The hotel we stayed at was Row NYC and it was in a great location. Just a block from Times Square, easy walkable access to the Port Authority Bus Station, and just around the corner to enter the city subway transportation system.

The first night we got there, it was freezing outside. There wasn't enough layers I could put on to keep the frigidness out. We entered stores and looked around along our excited first night exploring (and to keep unthawing). We visited M&M World, Harley Davidson, and Hard Rock Café.

The next day we explored more of the city including the Statue of Liberty ( but we didn't take the ferry out there, that will be something to do next time) and we visited the site of the 9/11 Memorial. We got the book for the history of 9/11.
