Quiet Day.....but did alot.....

Well, today was a nice relaxing day, but I got a few little things done I had on the back burner. (And I hate putting things on the back burner because I don't know how to cook LOL!). Okay, so I opened with a joke :)

Okay, let's go thru my day today (I know, it's always about me, go figure LOL). This morning I ran some errands with Dad (my Mom worked today from 8am to 1pm Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays), we went to the bank, hardware store and Sears. Turned in $80 worth of change (that one must of been Mom's idea), hardware store to buy a new chain for our driveway so people don't walk thru our driveway to get from the main street in front of our house to the back alley as a short cut. And we went to Sears to buy a Digital Tire Gauge because most of the typical tire gauge, the simple manual ones that we have only goes to a maximum of 60 psi and our pick up 1 ton Ram, well, it just doesn't work with the little air pressure gauge......so we had to invest in a super duty Digital Tire Gauge that looks like THIS. Can't show you a picture of it yet.....still working on that temporary photo maxed out issue, but you can click the link for the same exact product. I'll pay the $5 for 20GB to add tons of more pictures more to my blog. I can't wait, but I can send you to a link of where we bought it and what it looks like.

Okay enough about that. I know i can get rambling sometimes......I watched some TV this afternoon (court shows, talk shows, etc) and at the same time (yes, I can multi-task), I downloaded a Podcast Player onto my Blackberry and uploaded.......hmmmmmm, let me count them all, hang on......okay, I downloaded 54 Podcasts uploaded onto my Blackberry to listen to. In case, for some reason, you don't know what a podcast is.......Looking all over Google-land for the best way to explain what a podcast is......I believe this would be it: An Internet's version of a radio show. All those radio talk shows you listen on the radio in your car and at the end of the radio show, you are still driving and hit the steering wheel because the podcast episode that were entertaining you came to the end of the show. I love radio shows, sometime I wish radio talk show would last forever. A good host on a podcasts will hook you into what they are saying and you just want to hang on to see what else they are going to say next. Well, a podcast is just that, a talk show stored in my Blackberry until I want to listen to it when I'm in the mood. Am I in the mood for comedy shows, listening to workout personal trainers, updates of who's entering the Breeder's Cup on November 5 at Churchill Downs, and I gonna need some confidence tips to fight my way to the top of a poker tournament.

So in the past I have tried different podcasts readers for Blackberries, but most of them are terrible because they are required to have Wi-Fi or have to plug the phone into the computer to transfer all podcasts......forget it, I knew along the way there were be an easily way to upload podcasts onto Blackberries with a App called PodTrapper......don't let it intimidate you.......it just lets you loads your favorite podcasts to listen to. There is a Podcast Catalog that comes with the App you can flip thru all kinds of different topics of podcasts.......I downloaded Poker podcasts, horse racing podcasts, and some educations podcasts I wanted to stick my big toe in to test if I'll like it or now! Anyways, moving on........

Okay, enough of that. This afternoon I met up with Toni and Mom and we had a late lunch at Longhorns restaurant (Toni had a four dollar coupon) YAY! :) I think I gained 10 pounds just from the "Peppercorn" salad dressing with my salad. You know the whole, "Noooooo, not on the side, just pour it right on top of the salad, it's all good"  Geez, really got order my meals alittle bit more responsible next time ("dressing on the side please"). I did splurge at the McDonald's for a large ice tea (extra ice) from the dollar menu! :) I saved some money there since Dunkins is $2.50 for a medium ice tea.

Today on my down time, I did some homework and I see that my next horse racing tournament is on Thursday so there wasn't anything really important I could do about that today, so I took advantage of exploring Poker websites that would at least help me get thru a few games alive.......like this blog here I've been reading tonight. The Art of Bluffing in Poker and there are a few other articles in here and many other blogs and forums I've been surfing around it, picking up hints here and there. If I came across some other pokers blogs or forums that would let the cat out of the bad on how to get the upper hand in poker, I'm reading them all :)

The Poker League I went to on Monday night is Exactly what I needed!! To play online you don't get any level of intimidation coming your way, but in person, wow, these people are aggressive players and scare me, but as the "3 Rules to Playing Better Poker" article states, you must, in all cases, "Emotion stops when cards are in the Air" I'm gong to take this little piece of article and credit it to the proper author of "Donkey of Poker" and this is what he says:

Emotion Stops When Cards are in the AirWhen you play with emotion it clutters your thought process because you’re side tracked with something else. If you can turn off that switch and just focus on the task at hand, the hand being played will allow you to play better poker.

Play What You Can Afford to LoseBankroll management is an overlooked and under appreciated skill in playing better poker. If you’re playing with scared money, you’re playing at a level too high for you to accept the losses you will get with variance.

Review Hand History WeeklyTake a day off during the week to set aside time to review your past hands played. Playing better poker means you have to know what you are doing right and wrong. This is a great time to amend your notes on players as they might be getting better at playing poker too.

So there are interesting things on this website I might revert back to every so often. AND don't forget I have all my podcast built up on my Blackberry so now I can listen to Poker programs and Racing programs, and all sort of programs that whatever I'm in the mood for will suit me! :) I love it! But, unfortunately, it just another software that digs it's nails right into my battery and drains that suck dry......battery is dying in under 2 hours because of this stuff I've downloaded onto that I NEED!!! :)

Anyways, I've badgered you enough today, gonna go tuck Jake into bed and crash next to him. I'm going to work on ordering more pisaca photo storage tomorrow so we can get pictures back up and flying on my bloggie! :) Have a good night! :)

An Exciting Few Days......

Well, what an exciting day today was!! :) Today Jake and I had a amazing day meeting Pippi (@pippitweets) and her Mom and Dad. They rolled into town and gave us some of their time to say hello and get to talking. Pippi (a 5 year old Scottie) and Jake spent time in the park. And Jake was on one of his most behaved days. I think he's calming down with age. The first two minutes he was overly excited and on guard to our new visitors, but he settled right down in step with Pippi as they walked the park together. Pippi's Mom, Abigail, talked about her and her husband's job as marketing truck drivers, truck drivers who market products for their company's clients......yeah, can ya believe it, two great jobs merged into one. She talked about where she has been on tour and, it was funny, cause when I told her all the places in this country I've been to, I didn't have to use state names......I said Yuma, Mission, Orlando and she knew where they all were. She even brought Jake a gift! A t-shirt, and just in time for the cooler season to approach, and it fits him perfectly! Bad boy scull t-shirt!!!

My new t-shirt!

Thank you Pippi!! Hope you come back soon!
So that was today! So it's neat to see pictures after pictures of someone then finally meet them! Hope Pippi and her Mom and Dad comes to visit again soon! :) Be safe on the road......

The "hurricane" decreased to a tropical storm when it arrived in New Hampshire on Sunday. It wasn't that bad around here (south central New Hampshire), but as for northern New Hampshire, the after effects of a watery storm sure took it's toll on some of the bridges and roads up there. Just about an hour north, some road are washed out, campgrounds are suffering from washed out damages, and temporary bridges are going to be built around bridges that collapsed. The news channel talked about the storm before it got here and they are still talking about the damages from the storm after it is long gone. We didn't lose power here at all, not even a flicker, but my cousin in Massachusetts still has no power as of this morning.

OH, you are going to love this.....I called my auto finance company today just to let them know I'm making a payment in cash at a bank branch (this is normal for me to do since the bank I use only for my auto loan is disfunctional sometimes, and "disfunctional" is the right word for it.....so anyways....), and they told me over the phone that if I made a payment over the phone with them they will waive the $20 dollar processing fee if I was a victim of the "hurricane". Well, thinking to myself, it's really no big deal to me cause I'll just hop over to the bank and make the cash payment (I'm SO old fashioned that way), I told the lady that I was not a victim of the hurricane. She said "but you are in New Hampshire and the storm went thru New Hampshire didn't it?" I said "Yep, came thru New Hampshire, but we don't have property damage or flood damage at all on our land." She said to me, "But, you did have emotional sufferings and set backs, didn't you?" EMOTIONAL WHAT???? So, I said to her "Well, it does disturb me that the Merrimack River is five feet higher than what it should be." She said, "SEE, right there!!! It did effect you! I'll waive that $20 dollar processing fee and process your payment right away!" There was no way I was going to argue with this lady so I just deposited my payment into my check account.....sigh.......

Have a good night! :)

(PS: I can see this blogging platform "Blogger" is going thru some growth spurts so if there's mistakes in my posting, it means their spell check didn't work today)

Running Errands

My mom left for work early this morning and left a list of errands for my Dad to do today. It's a typical list, go to the bank and deposit money, pay some bills at the Hannaford's customer service desk, and a stop at Lowe's. Getting ready to leave the house Dad grabs his keys and the list and we head down stairs (Jake and I tag along to help)......we get downstairs and he says "Where's my car?" NO, he's not kidding! I just looked at him. It takes him a few seconds and he says, "Ohhhhh" realizing who had the car.

So I wave my keys and we are off and running. I'm backing out of the driveway and my Dad says "Oh, I forgot my cigarettes!" while feeling his pockets. I say "Too bad, you can't smoke in my car anyways" He says "But what am I going to do??" I say, "You will live" while maneuvering my car into traffic to get this list of errands done. He says "No problem, when we get to the store, I'll bum a cigarette off someone". I roll my eyes and shake my head.

So we head over to the bank first, zipping thru the drive thru was pretty easy, no lines, no waiting. Then hopped over to Lowe's for some insect killer stuff since we have a bee's nest that appeared on the ceiling of the first floor porch. That stuff actually works! There was a hole on the of the wood beams and there were some little powder of wood on the porch. So Dad sprayed that bug stuff in there and two huge bees fell out of the wooden hole right then and there dead. So Dad's plan is to change that piece of wood later to a pressure treated wood.

For the rest of the day we watched TV. Mom came home with the "missing car" and I headed out with her to cancel my Gold's Gym membership and stopped at McDonald's for an iced tea. So it was a productive day. Alot of times I'm happy to be home (instead of working) to keep an eye on my folks. Some of the things they say and do make me nervous, but it's nothing serious yet, just pre-senile moments that pop up here and there.......Just another typical day for me. You never know what going to happen to tomorrow so check back :) Have a nice day!
