An Exciting Few Days......

Well, what an exciting day today was!! :) Today Jake and I had a amazing day meeting Pippi (@pippitweets) and her Mom and Dad. They rolled into town and gave us some of their time to say hello and get to talking. Pippi (a 5 year old Scottie) and Jake spent time in the park. And Jake was on one of his most behaved days. I think he's calming down with age. The first two minutes he was overly excited and on guard to our new visitors, but he settled right down in step with Pippi as they walked the park together. Pippi's Mom, Abigail, talked about her and her husband's job as marketing truck drivers, truck drivers who market products for their company's clients......yeah, can ya believe it, two great jobs merged into one. She talked about where she has been on tour and, it was funny, cause when I told her all the places in this country I've been to, I didn't have to use state names......I said Yuma, Mission, Orlando and she knew where they all were. She even brought Jake a gift! A t-shirt, and just in time for the cooler season to approach, and it fits him perfectly! Bad boy scull t-shirt!!!

My new t-shirt!

Thank you Pippi!! Hope you come back soon!
So that was today! So it's neat to see pictures after pictures of someone then finally meet them! Hope Pippi and her Mom and Dad comes to visit again soon! :) Be safe on the road......

The "hurricane" decreased to a tropical storm when it arrived in New Hampshire on Sunday. It wasn't that bad around here (south central New Hampshire), but as for northern New Hampshire, the after effects of a watery storm sure took it's toll on some of the bridges and roads up there. Just about an hour north, some road are washed out, campgrounds are suffering from washed out damages, and temporary bridges are going to be built around bridges that collapsed. The news channel talked about the storm before it got here and they are still talking about the damages from the storm after it is long gone. We didn't lose power here at all, not even a flicker, but my cousin in Massachusetts still has no power as of this morning.

OH, you are going to love this.....I called my auto finance company today just to let them know I'm making a payment in cash at a bank branch (this is normal for me to do since the bank I use only for my auto loan is disfunctional sometimes, and "disfunctional" is the right word for it.....so anyways....), and they told me over the phone that if I made a payment over the phone with them they will waive the $20 dollar processing fee if I was a victim of the "hurricane". Well, thinking to myself, it's really no big deal to me cause I'll just hop over to the bank and make the cash payment (I'm SO old fashioned that way), I told the lady that I was not a victim of the hurricane. She said "but you are in New Hampshire and the storm went thru New Hampshire didn't it?" I said "Yep, came thru New Hampshire, but we don't have property damage or flood damage at all on our land." She said to me, "But, you did have emotional sufferings and set backs, didn't you?" EMOTIONAL WHAT???? So, I said to her "Well, it does disturb me that the Merrimack River is five feet higher than what it should be." She said, "SEE, right there!!! It did effect you! I'll waive that $20 dollar processing fee and process your payment right away!" There was no way I was going to argue with this lady so I just deposited my payment into my check account.....sigh.......

Have a good night! :)

(PS: I can see this blogging platform "Blogger" is going thru some growth spurts so if there's mistakes in my posting, it means their spell check didn't work today)

Touch A Truck

Today I went a local school charity event called "Touch A Truck". Jake wasn't feel all that up to it with all the allergy medication he is on, so I left him laying on the sofa relaxing, then this evening I brought him to the park for a walkie and he was happy. We are (most likely according to the news channels on TV) staying inside tomorrow due to the threat of a hurricane, so Jake and I will be watching TV and I'm still working on making Jake do the "Paw" trick to give me his paw for a treat, we are working on alot of new tricks (still working on "roll over" too, maybe tomorrow I'll get on the floor and show him how it's done LOL!)....Okay, so that was my day today......I know what you are waiting for.....pictures! :)

So that was my day today. The weather today (during the day) was nice - it hit 80 degrees and I had a t-shirt on most of the day.....you can see by the pictures it was a nice day. It started raining around this evening and now it's just a matter of waiting for Hurricane Irene to pass by and move on.....Have a great night. Hmmmmm, not sure what I'm going to blog about tomorrow since I won't venture out, I'll most likely dig something up! :)

Welcome To The Mount Washington Auto Road

Today we drove the Mount Washington Auto Road and it was worth it. There is a train you can take to the top and back and there are plenty of hikers taking on the mountain on foot, but we took it with our car. It was a great day to do this......it was a very nice day out and I'm not too sure what the temperature was at the base of the summit (t-shirt and shorts), but the top of the summit it was 52 degrees.....There are ALOT of pictures so bare with me..... :)

This is the little bridge we cross to enter the Mt Washington Auto Road

8 miles to the top!

Got to pay to enter the Auto Road.....

We paid: $25 for car and driver and then $8 for each
additional passenger. Jake got in for free.

Gift Shop!!! Oh, got to go to the Gift Shop!!!!

There's our car and this is the start of our journey

This is one of the t-shirts in the gift shop

Ready? Get your gas now for $3.84 a gallon!

There's our bumper sticker

There's our certificate

Up the hill, errrrr, I mean, mountain....

Lead the way Jake!!!!

Alot of these "pull off" places to enjoy the scenery

There's some water for your radiator, there's a few along the way

Not a bad camera shot as we move about 20 mph

More mountains....well, that's what everyone comes to see, right? :)

Got my camera out the window....still climbing the hill.....

Radiator check!

Road turns to dirt.....

Higher and Higher.....

I want to take home a cloud! :)

Getting there - got to get to 6,288 feet.....still moving....

Almost as high as the mountains around us!

I'm trying different settings on my new camera as I go along....

Remember the sign below - "Summit 8 miles"

Going a little camera crazy with these mountains.....

Whoa!! It's getting steep around here.....

That train was heading downhill.....so neat! I wanna ride the train next time!
This is my favorite picture! :)

Okay! I see the top!

We parked the car and walked up here.....

Checking the clock.....all set! :)

Nope! Not there yet! Stairs to climb now....

231 mph!!!!! Jake buddy, stay next to me.....

Tip Top House! Restored from the original 1853 Tip Top House Hotel
built before the Auto Road and the Cog Railway!

Jake is having a good time. It's 52 degrees and with a super short haircut,
I put a little sweater on him (don't roll your eyes) LOL!

Another sign I found while walking around on top of the world!!! :)

Dad's hanging on so Jake doesn't blow away (it was a slight breeze and he's only 8 pounds)

Still walking around.....

Yep, that's me going nuts with the camera again.....

OH, some information for you.....

Train made it back up again

I wanna ride the train! I think I read it was $45 dollars one way

We are parked down there somewhere

See that in the distance.....see it....hang on, I'll zoom in.....

A ski resort...hmmmmm, don't ask me which ski resort though

Okay, time to drive down the mountain now.......we ready??

Steeper downhill than uphill!!!! Yikes!

More scenery for your viewing pleasure :)

Take a good look, last picture of the mountains

We will follow the Guided Tour van down......
Boy, that was alot of fun, huh?? I could go on and on about Mt Washington and the history, but I think the pictures, says it all...... :) Have a great night. And check on me tomorrow! :) Jake is already snoring......
