Jake's project :)

Okay, once again I bought an 12 oz bag of Dog treats make from Science Diet by Hill's Pets. The canned food and dry food of this manufacturer is great for Jake. But his ZD same formula in the treats that he likes to have a treat at night wasn't working out. The treats are hard to break with his teeth, I can't even break then treats in half with my 37 year old strong hands. We are now down to using a nut cracker to break the dog treats up so Jake can chew on tiny chunks of them and sometime he would just swallow the little pieces that he doesn't want to make the effort of fighting to chew though stale cookie treats. SO, once again I hopped on the phone with the manufacturer of Hill's Science Diet and filed a complain that I felt didn't go any further than her computer screen who was taking my notes and information for the marketing department for feedback. Anyways, the lady on the phone gave me some ideas of how to create a cookie treat from his kibble dry food and his canned food......it caught my attention and I settled down and took notes on how to use the dry food and canned food that can be turned in snack treat food. She said to make one cup of dry food to a powdery mix and mix it with a 1/2 cup of water and mix it together. Got all that? I hope so. So, then we made cookie circle shapes on the pan and there was quite alot like 14 or 15 of them. Plenty for him to enjoy thru the week. So we put it in the over at 350 degrees and left them in there for 20 - 25 minutes. I have to say that Jake was guarding the stove to make sure they don't "disappear" :) Are you ready for some pictures?? I am! :)

This is some of his kibble we will be working with on this project...

Now we have to smash the kibble into a powdery substance

Coming along nicely.....we need 1 cup of this stuff....

We are building up a cup of powdery kibble....

We are moving our way to the top of the 1 cup size....

Here are the tools we will be working with to get the results of the dog cookie treat! :)

First we add 1/2 cup of water to 1 cup of kibble pebble.....I'm not a professional cook so you can play around with these two ingredients to get them to your cookie texture level! :)

Then while we are stirring, we are adding the rest of the water. Easy :)

Then the mixing starts.....just shuffle it around the bowl. Stir it around so it's all mixed tonight....if you think you might want to add more water, by all means, this is the time to do it! :)

There, as for us, we are all set to make the cookies (maybe next time we will add more water) but we are winging this as we have never done this before :)

Loading up the pan. On the left side are the cookies from the powder and water stuff, and on the right side I put in little ball sizes of his canned food to see how it would come out.

Jake wanted to supervisor so much. His little  nosey was working over time this afternoon! :)

Okay, they are ready to go in the oven to see what happens.

Well, we finished off making all the cookies, they don't look so hot.....but they will conform to cookies automatically hopefully somehow......

LOOK!! They are in the oven! Now, remember 350 degrees and after 20 minutes, keep an eye on them! :)

Kinda like what Jake is doing.....he was pacing the floor and was sniffing....

He was on guard in front of the stove....checking on them but wouldn't let anyone by them until they were done!

He watched this way, and that way.....nooooo one coming near my cookies!!!

Got to keep an eye out over here too.......some humans pass thru this way all the time....got to keep my eyes open!

Are they still in there......I'm just gonna strain my neck to peek....

Ohhhhh, poohh, these cookies are never gonna get done today *pout*

They are done, They are done!!!!! Wanna a bite?? The right side where the canned food was cooked didn't turn out too good so we thew those out.

Now Mommy got to break them up into cookie shapes......
Let me tell ya, it was worth it! So worth it. I probably would of added a tad more water for texture, but they were great.....cause Jake chomped down two of them and they were so soft and not crunchy at all.......and the bottom line is what Jake things and Jake says......"Jake Approved"! :)

Oh, this was so hysterical. I love all the photos. I especially like the ones where Jake is making sure to guard his cookies! LOL! xx If these are Jake approved, then we want to try something like that here. My Berner girls and I thank you for the great post! x
